UCDA believes that our future relies on the leadership abilities of our community. We work diligently with area business leaders to develop leadership skills for local professionals, as well as our local youth. This leadership program, formally known as High Lakes Leadership, has taken a new name; Lead UC. We plan for this program to continue to develop the future leaders of Union County.

Whether you are just starting out as a professional or looking to polish up your leadership skills and connections within your community, Lead UC is a leadership program designed specifically for Union County! Leadership sessions meet bi-weekly and take place January – May.

Our Lead UC Youth program was designed to empower teens to become confident leaders through various acts of service by increasing awareness and involvement in creating a safer, cleaner, more enjoyable community. Leadership sessions meet monthly August – May.

With October Being Salute to Industry Month, we worked with IowaWorks and the Iowa Intermediary Network at Southwestern Community College, to host Made In UC. During this event, we invited local industries to set up interactive stations for 8th grade students in Union County. During their visit, they are given fun facts about each business to discover, as well as, an opportunity for students to see career opportunities that exist in Union County beyond their original expectations. Each student receives a handout to review at the end of their visit. See the handout below:

The saying “home is where the heart is” runs deep in Union County. We strive to help meet your needs for all housing requirements. We continue to explore attainable housing options that suit all of our population’s needs and with programs such as Home Base Iowa, we can continue to provide incentives to help you bridge the gap, while you are getting settled in UC.

Union County has been a partner in the Home Base Iowa veterans program since 2014.
