Retention & Expansion
One of UCDA's most important activities is to support the growth of existing businesses in Union County.
The Business Retention & Expansion (BRE) program develops and implements strategies that proactively engage existing businesses to gain a better understanding of the business environment in the region, identify opportunities to help business grow/expand, assist businesses in overcoming difficulties and challenges, provide general assistance, track trends, and make sure the region is a viable place to do business.
UCDA utilizes a business retention & expansion survey tool biennially to gauge the business climate and quality of life for primary employers in Union County. This survey helps facilitate a variety of functions, including:
-
Identifies local business workforce needs;
-
Creates a dialogue between businesses and local, state and federal governments;
-
Identify companies that are seeking assistance with business operations.
-
Anticipate and recognize any challenges that are threatening local businesses.
-
Receive input from area employers on the strengths and weaknesses of conducting business in the region.
The complete survey is conducted during an in-person meeting to insure a full and clear understanding of the business' operations and needs. This also provides businesses with the opportunity to engage and learn more about what is going on in the area and the overall direction of the region.
The data pulled from this survey assists in our economic and community development efforts. It is used as the foundation of our three year vision plan. Your input is valuable to us as we develop initiatives related to business expansion and retention. The individual responses collected during these surveys are confidential and only reported in aggregate.
