To support the entrepreneurial community and support local businesses, Startup UC allows any resident and non-resident to show their support by purchasing a uniquely designed bracelet. The revenues from these bracelet sales will be used to leverage additional dollars that will go into a fund that will be used to provide a cash prize gift(s) for a business plan competition to be held in the Fall of 2017. The bracelets can be purchased for $5.00 each at the UCDA office or any local financial institution.
Startup UC is a program of the Union County Development Association (UCDA).
Only seven business entrants will be invited to the Business Pitch Competition. It is possible that your business entry may not be selected to go onto the final round of competition. All selected business entrants must attend a coaching session between October 26 – November 10, 2017.
Please note that awards are taxable and that Union County Development must have each winner’s SS# or EIN# before a check can be issued.
All decisions of the judges are final.
Confidentiality: By the submission of your business entry, you understand and agree that a short description of your business idea will be considered a “public summary” of your plan and may be used in public documentation related to the competition. The UCDA will provide a copy of your business entry submission to competition judges and will inform them that no other copies are to be made.
The judges will evaluate each business idea based on the following:
UCDA will publicize the names and associations of all judges who participate in the Startup UC 2017 competition. Judges will be asked to remove themselves from judging a plan if they have a conflict of interest, such as pre-existing family or business relationship with an entrant.
